Is Paloma Health's membership right for me?

If you already have an established diagnosis of hypothyroidism you will benefit from easy access to a specialized thyroid care team. No one likes the discomfort, stress, and anxiety of having fatigue, depression, or other thyroid symptoms. Having your own dedicated thyroid care team will provide you with the assurance that your well being is the number one priority, that your questions will be answered, and that your symptoms will be diagnosed and treated by a team of US-based, board-certified, thyroid specialists (including endocrinologists and functional medicine doctors).

We believe the thyroid gland is one of the most important contributors to your wellbeing and if not closely monitored can make you feel at best, "not your best" and at worst, worn out, depressed, struggling with weight, unable to function well at your work, and stressed about all of this.

And because of this, we have created the most complete test kit that you can take at home, we've hired the best doctors to help treat and stay on top of your hypothyroidism in addition to health coaches to help you with holistic approaches to your health - from the best diet, to managing stress, to the right exercise to help maintain your best thyroid health.

How much does the membership cost?

Paloma Health offers two membership options: an insurance membership ($96 per year) and a self-pay membership ($192 per year). The insurance membership is only available to patients who have health insurance accepted by at least one Paloma Health doctor in their state.

Patients on the insurance membership have to use their insurance for doctor visits. Patients on the self-pay membership pay $60 for each doctor visit but can also decide to use their insurance to cover the cost of these visits.

Does the membership work with my insurance?

Unfortunately, your insurance cannot be used to pay for your membership fee.

If you have health insurance and if we accept it then you are eligible to the Paloma Health Insurance Membership which gives you 50% off your membership fee ($96 per year instead of $192). Please note that you will have to use your insurance benefits to pay for your visits once on the insurance membership. You will be charged for any co-insurance, copays and deductibles. It is your responsibility to confirm that the provider that you see at Paloma Health is a participating provider under your medical insurance policy.

Paloma Health's mission is to help as many people as possible. To expand the range of members we can support, we will continue to grow our network of commercial insurance partners to provide coverage for visits with providers.

What is a dedicated care manager?

Your care manager will help you manage the logistics of care, while also supporting our internal clinical staff to ensure fluid coordination between the various professionals working on your team.

We know that sharing your medical history, scheduling appointments, filling out insurance forms, navigating benefits/coverage of your health plan, and finding local test sites can be challenging. We’ve got you covered, and your care manager will help facilitate these tasks for you.

Paloma's care managers work only with thyroid patients and therefore understand the unique circumstance of thyroid care including thyroid medications, testing, diet and symptoms.

Can my Health Provider prescribe medications and order lab tests or diagnostics?

Yes, your healthcare provider can prescribe medications, just like any other medical practice. Your healthcare provider can also order additional labs when necessary.

Here’s what you can expect to receive with your Paloma Health membership:

- Access to highly qualified care team members, including Registered Dietitians, endocrinologists and functional medicine MDs, all working together to deliver integrated care aimed at helping you achieve symptom control

- A 12 week protocol to help you implement lifestyle changes with the goal of improving your symptoms

- The ease and convenience of using telehealth. Access video visits from the comfort of your home or office, after-hours, and on weekends. Enjoy convenient unlimited messaging with your care team.

- Convenient access to prescription medications and diagnostic tests (including labs, imaging, and procedures) if deemed necessary by your care team

- Personalized care plans and educational content that is tailored to your health goals and lifestyle preferences

- Access to a dedicated care manager to help you navigate your health journey including medical record retrieval, external referrals, and procedural needs

What happens if I want to cancel my membership?

If you cancel your annual membership before your first doctor visit, you will receive a refund less a $15 service fee.

You can cancel your membership anytime and it will not renew after the annual period. (Example: If you start membership on 1/1/2022 and cancel it on 5/2/2022 it will be active and available for use until 1/1/2023). Your membership fee for the period in which you cancel will not be refunded and you will maintain access to all member services and benefits until the end of that term.

If you would like to cancel and end your your annual membership immediately (not at the end of the annual period) and be refunded any portion of the annual fee, you are responsible for the cost of services (at non-member rates) used during your membership:

  • $110 - per doctor visit
  • $99 - per kit + potential additional biomarkers
  • $75 - Nutritionist visit
  • $40 for vitamin supplements (one-off purchase)
  • $34 for vitamin supplements (as a subscription)

We would be sad to have you leave! But we don’t aim to trap you. If you are a monthly member, your membership will end at the end of the month in which you cancel.

Where are Paloma Health Memberships available?

Paloma Health is an online medical practice with no physical locations.

All interactions with Paloma Health can be done from the comfort of your home, including telemedicine visits with your thyroid doctor and nutritionist, at-home testing of your thyroid levels, and in some cases delivery of
your prescription medication.

Please note that Paloma Health doctors are available in the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York,North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Visit Cancellation and No Shows

Visit cancellation
Members will not be charged if the visit is canceled or rescheduled at least 4 hours before the scheduled start time.

No Shows
Paloma Health will charge a no-show fee of $60. If you are more than 10 min late to your visit, you will be charged the no-show fee as well.

How to Reschedule/Cancel
Visit your Doctor Visits page to reschedule or cancel your upcoming visit at least 24 hours in advance. You may also message your care manager or email care@palomahealth for support

What if I lose or change my insurance?

If you lose your insurance coverage or have a new insurance that we do not accept, you can pay $60 for your doctor visits without billing your insurance. When your membership renews, you won’t able to benefit from the discounted membership fee of $96 per year. Your membership will renew at the self-pay rate of $192 per year.

What if I move to another state?

If you move to another state, we will check if your insurance is accepted in the new state. If it is not accepted, don’t worry - we will keep you on the insurance membership until your membership renews. You will be able to pay $60 for out-of-network visits during this time.When your membership renews, you won’t able to benefit from the discounted membership fee of $96 per year. Your membership will renew at the self-pay rate of $192 per year.

How can I transition from the self-pay membership to the insurance membership?

If you are currently on the self-pay membership and at least one Paloma health doctor in your state accepts your health insurance, you may be eligible for the insurance membership if you signed up within the past 60 days. If you are eligible, you will receive a full refund for the difference between the insurance membership fee and the self-pay membership fee.

If you become a self-pay member more than 60 days ago, you won’t be eligible for a refund.

Please note that you will have to use your insurance benefits to pay for your visits once on the insurance membership. Additionally, not all of our doctors accept insurance, so only the doctors who accept your insurance in your state will be available for booking.

Price Changes for doctor visit

Starting November 15th, 2023, the price for a visit at Paloma Health will be increased from $42 to $60. Our commitment to your health and well-being remains our top priority. The price change is a step to ensure we can continue delivering the amazing services you’ve come to expect from Paloma Health. We deeply value our relationship with you, and we always strive to provide you with the best care possible.

To show our appreciation for your continued trust and loyalty, we have an arrangement in place for our existing members. Any visits that you book before November 15th, even if the actual visit date is after this date, will still be charged at the current rate of $42. This gives you the flexibility to schedule future visits at the current price if you wish to do so.
