I’m passionate about treating thyroid disease because hypothyroidism often goes undetected and is misunderstood, yet it has a profound impact on every aspect of a person’s health and well-being. The thyroid affects metabolism, energy levels, mood, and even cardiovascular health, so when the thyroid is not functioning properly, patients can feel like they’ve lost control of their bodies. I find it incredibly rewarding to help people regain that control, often after years of symptoms that were dismissed.
As a physician, my approach to treating hypothyroidism is rooted in both evidence-based medicine and a deep understanding of how uniquely this condition can affect each individual. While the diagnosis itself may seem straightforward, the lived experience of hypothyroidism varies greatly from person to person—and so should the treatment.
My first priority is to listen closely. Many patients come to me feeling unheard, frustrated by lingering symptoms despite “normal” lab results. I take the time to understand their full picture: not just their thyroid levels, but their energy, mood, sleep, weight changes, and overall sense of well-being. I believe that lab values are a tool—not the whole story—and that treating hypothyroidism effectively means aligning clinical data with how the patient actually feels.
