About

Avee Runser, PA

Avee Runser started her career as a music therapist before returning to graduate school for a master's degree in physician assistant studies. Her background in therapy set the stage for acknowledging the importance of emotional safety, mutual respect, and trust between patient and provider. As a music therapist Avee worked at the Cleveland Music School Settlement, Children's Hospital of Cleveland, the Salvation Army of Cleveland, several hospice in-patient units, across NC, FL and OH, in public school settings, and provided private sessions for children with autism and adults with developmental disabilities.  As a board certified physician assistant, Avee has over a decade of experience in medicine having worked in Pain Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Urgent Care and Palliative Care. In recent years Avee completed all three levels to become certified in a somatic trauma therapy called TEB (Transforming the Experienced Based Brain).  She recognizes that patterns and dysfunction of the body are often associated with emotional trauma and believes in the care of the whole person. In her free time Avee enjoys backcountry camping, mountain biking, yoga, songwriting, and being a mom to her two adorable children.

Q&A with

Avee Runser, PA

Why I am passionate about treating patients with hypothyroidism.

I am thrilled to be working for Paloma Health because I know the care to be thorough, compassionate and a rare space that offers evidence-based medicine alongside functional and integrative principles. I also appreciate that providers are accessible and affordable, especially in the area of hormone replacement therapy which often is presented as concierge service with a tremendous price tag. Every person deserves access to exceptional care.  I am so excited to partner with you on your healthcare journey and to listen to your needs and goals. Some of you might only want medicine. Others might want to clean up your water, food, exercise, habits, uncover vitamin deficiencies, ect. Maybe you just need a refill. However surface or deep you want to go, I believe you and am happy to be in your corner.

My approach to treating hypothyroidism is...

Combining your knowledge of your own body with my knowledge around the many pharmaceutical, supplemental, dietary and lifestyle options we have to offer you through this platform. I like to start by asking what you have already tried on your journey, what has and has not worked for you and if you already have an idea of what you are needing next. From there I will guide you with choices and we will collaborate to create a treatment plan. In my experience as a provider and a patient, the order of addressing things: 1. thyroid 2. hormones 3. weight loss. I am also open to your thoughts and needs as every person benefits from a unique treatment plan.
