Dr. Dennis Chernin received his Bachelor of Art from Northwestern University and his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan. He did residencies in psychiatry and preventive medicine and is board certified in preventive medicine.
As a healthcare provider, Dr. Chernin is dedicated to providing holistic medical care to patients who live with thyroid issues like hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and Hashimoto's disease (an autoimmune disease).
Though he has never completely left his conventional medicine training, Dr. Chernin currently practices holistic and family medicine using nutrition, yoga, exercise, breathing exercises, meditation therapies, homeopathy, and allopathic medication when necessary. Dr. Cherin finds that problems with the thyroid gland are very amendable to these alternative therapies and treatment plans.
Besides clinical medicine, Dr. Chernin is the medical director of three county public health departments at lectures at the University of Michigan Medical School. He is also a certified yoga teacher, teaching meditation and breathing techniques worldwide for over forty-seven years.
When Dr. Chernin is not treating thyroid patients, he teaches and studies Chinese martial arts, leads a kirtan (yoga chanting) group, and paints abstract landscapes and portraits with acrylics. He is also the author of several books about meditation, yoga, holistic medicine, chakras, breathwork.
